Programme Overview
Τhe School of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Environment, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki organizes and operates since the academic year 2019 a Program of Post Graduate Studies (PSP( with the title “Soil, Water, Energy Resources and Agricultural Environment Management”, according to legislation 4957/21-07-2022.
The objective of the PSP is high standards graduate studies in basic and advance principles, knowledge, methods and abilities in the fields of Soil Science, Water Resources Management in Agriculture, Biosystems Engineering and Protection of Agricultural Environment.
The aim of the PSP is training scientists for Greek State administration, research, education and services, with a positive direct and indirect impact in enhancing agricultural research in Greece and in developing new technologies, as well as supporting agronomists and other scientists in the in the field of agriculture, leading the development of the country.
In addition, through the PSP, the program graduates will develop skills in a) the design and operation of irrigation and drainage networks, b) the utilization and management of groundwater, c) best management practices in fertilization, d) best management practices of agricultural wastes with the aim of reducing environmental pollution, e) actions for amelioration of climate change or adaptation of agriculture to climate change, f) utilization of waste, byproducts etc for cyclic bio-economy, g) reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, i) management of energy resources.
All the above are achieved through theoretical, laboratory and practical training – educating the post graduate students in subjects regarding management of soil, water and energy resources in relation to agricultural production, environmental protection and sustainable development. Such knowledge will be particularly useful for young scientists that they will be able to acquire within Greece.
Courses in the PSP are face to face, with fees of 500€ per semester.
